Kim Johnsson
TRADED TO CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS FEBRUARY 2010 FOR DEFENSEMAN CAM BARKER. Save the Ole and Lena jokes. Kim Johnsson has probably heard them all. This Minnesota Wild defenseman hails from Maimo, Sweden and has had a quiet yet continually growing career in the NHL. Initially, Johnsson was an unimpressive, absolute last pick (286th overall and 11th round) back in 1994 for the New York Rangers. He spent the next 5 years playing for the Swedish League before the Rangers called him up for two seasons from 1999-2001. Johnsson was then traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, where he bounced between playing for the Flyers and the Swiss League. As a Philadelphia Flyers member, Johnsson was a two-time winner of the Barry Ashbee Award for the team’s best defenseman. In 2006, Kim Johnsson was traded to the Minnesota Wild and the next two seasons can best be described as steady. He has recorded 7 goals and 42 assists over the course of both the 2006-2007 and 2207-2008 seasons. During the 2008-2009 season, Kim Johnsson scored two goals and had 22 assists. Johnsson has committed to the Minnesota Wild until 2010, and is set at a pretty sweet contract worth $19.4 million. That money comes in handy for his trans-Atlantic flights to visit his wife and two little girls back in Sweden. Hopefully after a summer with his family, Kim Johnsson will be rested and ready for play with the Minnesota Wild during the 2009-2010 season. © 2010 HockeyTicketsMinnesota.com Terms of Service |
